My Girl
When you were just a baby
I could not foretell
How it would be as you grew up and when you'd talk
Not yell.
At times its been hard
I'd felt like giving up
But each day we've had together
We've learnt to live it up.
I watch you do your hair
and put cream upon your face.
I'm now watching you mature
at such an alarming pace.
When you were small it all seemed so hard
Cause you were always screaming
But now you're eight
Those baby years seem like I was only dreaming.
You're far more beautiful
Than I ever could have thought
I watch you cheerfully do your chores
That only I have taught
I look at you
How precious you are
In eight short years you've come so far
When you grow up
I know you'll be
A contented wife and mother like me.
You happily help out and serve
When once you were so loud
I guess I want to let you know
You make me very proud.
