Not A Three Ringed Circus
Marriage is a three ringed circus.... Engagement ring, Wedding ring and Suffering !

A friend showed me the above statement that she had received by email, it's not the first time I have read it as it's been around for years. Unfortunately this is how marriage is viewed today - even by those who have never experienced it.

There is a terrible deception in our society's thinking that has placed fear in men and women concerning marriage. Also, that the act of marriage is an unnecessary contract to be bound to. This deception is powerful enough to delude them so as they never  take the step to commitment of any kind.

We have been mislead by sensational headlines, self-ambition, hurtful life experiences and warped opinions. I know of people very close to me who make excuses and speak in clichés concerning their inability to marry. They are paralyzed with fear and are held back from one of the greatest relationships and blessings ever given to us. Marriage is not just a pretty name for spending lots of money on a family get together, nor is it a place where the girl's fantasy of the white wedding can be played out. Some people have told me that being married would fix all of their problems.

God's Word shows us over and over the blessing of marriage. It's a covenant with God Almighty.

A covenant is a binding and solemn agreement that can never be cancelled. It is through the new covenant sealed with the blood of Jesus that the Lord has redeemed and reconciled us to Himself. Marriage has great significance in the heart of God as his people are affectionately called the bride. This shows the beautiful intimacy He desires in our relationship with Him.

Marriage in no way represents a three ringed circus (parenting however might!! )  It represents a three strand cord, a covenant between husband, wife and God. That is a powerful force in today's world.

Eccl 4:9 - 12  Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work.  If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!  Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
