A Fresh Look
I thank the Lord nearly every day for my husband and our life together, we want more than any thing to bring Jesus into our marriage. That may sound strange but in the business of life Jesus often takes the back seat. My marriage is a miracle that just keeps getting better. I never used to believe people were happily married (because I was enduring my first). If any one mentioned being happily married I would be thinking to myself, sure I know the truth! What a sad way to think.
I day dream often about my love for my husband and what he does for me. I suppose it's all a bit dribbly but I am a pathetic romantic. I don't know about you but I used to live in a fantasy world, always dreaming of my prince charming. The problem is prince charming doesn't exist. Also, fantasy can often be deceiving and set you up for major disappointment. I love my marriage and what it does in me. It's not always easy but it's a wonderful covenant ordained by the Lord.
I want to let other women and men know that there is such things as happily married couples, they exist. Those who have been hurt from divorce and separation sometimes become extremely cynical when it comes to addressing marriage. I hope that these few words will help you to see that love is possible after being terribly disillusioned. Our marriage is a testimony of God's goodness. I hope that any of you who read this and are aching inside for your partner will be touched and that shattered dreams start to be rebuilt.
I found the Song of Solomon very comforting while waiting for my husband. Try reading it and opening your heart to the love and romance it contains. It is a powerful book showing the beauty of divine love. Not only that, it is probably the most breathtaking poetry ever written and it's the Word Of God. Following is a little example, enjoy.
Song 2:1- 6. I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. As a lily among brambles, so is my love among maidens. As an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his intention toward me was love. Sustain me with raisins, refresh me with apples; for I am faint with love. O that his left hand were under my head, and that his right hand embraced me!
